Taking Advantage of Destruction

Público Newspaper: Angry Outdoors
To increase the sales for the mobile phone game app Angry Birds in Lisbon Publico newspaper produced large print out ads that were strategically placed all over the city onto many of the city's derelict buildings, so that it could increase awareness of the brand across the city on almost no budget. Genius!

Buckle Up

Quebec Automobile Insurance Society: Seatbelts, Red
Here we have a very simple but very effective poster ad reminding young drivers to fasten their seat belts. It does this quite simply by having a potential death-date of someone around the age of 19, blocked out by the seatbelt.

Oxford Street Christmas Lights

Oxford Street Christmas lightsRobbie Williams' face in the Christmas Lights. Williams switched them on this year.
DDB, Piggots and Marmite have come together to create this years christmas lights. When I first heard about the marmite themed lighting I was a bit skeptical as to how it would look but after seeing them myself all lit up I realised how great they actually where, after seeing row after row of elves diving into Marmite pots you forget that its Marmite and just appreciate the for their festivity.

Awesome Silk Prints

Joshua M. Smith from Orlando Florida teamed up with Graphika Manila and Team Manila to produce a series of silk prints. I think these prints are really cool with there dark imposing images of skulls or demonic animals. If I had the space and the money I would definitely have something like this up on my wall!

Geekier by the day

Last time I shown you some minimalist super heroes that I really enjoyed. Now I'm going to show you some minimalist video game posters! I found these posters by Fran Asensio of many famous video games, some new, some retro. As a big video game fan I find these posters very interesting and enjoy being able to understand the image in relation to the game although this may damage my social life. Here is some examples from some of my favourite games that have been made into posters, enjoy!

Before, During and After

British photographer, journalist and film maker. Lalage. Spent 8 months in Afganistan with the soldiers at camp bastion, taking pictures of them before during and after their tours. What his photographs say speaks louder than any words. The pictures show how the war has changed the men, making them harder but yet destroying them at the same time. The pictures also show the changes to them caused by the stress for example all of the soldiers show a dramatic loss of weight in their faces. I think these pictures tell a very powerful story of the affects of war on the people who fight them.

Rocky Mountains

In 2015 the Rocky Mountains national park will be celebrating it 100th anniversary and so they have created a new logo made up of different creatures and geographical features around the park. The new logo and poster design definitely differs a lot from the past designs that where very famous and started a whole new style of poster design for that era.
